When I began dating Matt, I was so excited to learn of his family's Christmas Eve traditions as our family's traditions are all on Christmas Day! I was even more excited to learn that they revolve around a delicious dinner featuring a standing rib roast! I'm getting hungry just thinking of it! Over the years we've adopted new traditions as the family has grown, we've suffered a loss, and added children, but the meal has always remained the same! Today I'm sharing the recipes from our Christmas Eve Dinner along with some of our annual family traditions for Christmas Eve!
We eat Christmast Eve dinner around 6pm, but throughout the day we are continually baking treats and another family favorite, Sausage Bread!
We also make a few sweet treats like miniature Pecan Tassies, Chocolate Chip cookies, and now we've added sugar cookies and gingerbread men for the girls to decorate for Santa!
ROLL OUT SUGAR COOKIES
We used to go drive around and look at all of the Christmas lights, but now our family is too big for one car, so we've nixed that tradition. Every year after dinner, we open presents, and then lay around and watch National Lampoons Christmas Vacation before heading home to tuck in Stella and prepare for Christmas morning!
Happy Holidays to Your Family from Ours!! I'd love to hear more of your family traditions!!
